GRE Review Course 2006

T Th 1410-1525 in TH434.

We will start off with a brief organizational meeting on Tues. 9/12 at 1410. The first workshop session will then be on Thurs. 9/14 (discussion of important concepts; distribution of practice questions) and Tues. 9/19 (discussion of solutions).

GRE Course for Credit

To get one unit of credit for the GRE review course, you must register for Phys 699 (undergrad) or 899 (grad) by filling out a "Petition for Course by Individual Study" (instructions below). You will be expected to put in 45 hours of work for one credit, consisting of 20-25 hours in class meetings and 20-25 hours homework. The class will be graded CR/NC, with only one unexcused absence permitted.

Fill out the petition, get your advisor's signature, and bring it to the P&A office to get an add permit. We will handle getting instructor and chair signatures. Note that you need a GPA of 3.0 (undergrad) / 3.25 (grad).

I. Review the major areas of physics covered in the Physics Graduate Record Exam and relevant problem-solving techniques .

II. Reading, homework, meetings with instructor. There will be an average of one meeting with the instructor per week.
